THINK AGAIN: BLOG #2307; FRI JUL 16,2021

THE COMEBACK:

...... and another thing.....

I’m sorry, I have to go. You’re boring me to death and my survival instincts are kicking in.

THE MESSAGE:

Candace Owens Farmer tells her story:

I am not a “stereotypical” black girl. I don’t have a name that’s hard to pronounce, and I don’t speak in colloquialisms. My mother kept my head in novels, which afforded me a leg up in my academics, and consequentially, in life.

Candace says, black men getting shot by police isn’t about racism.

Racism exists, but it is far less rampant than ignorance, and ignorance can be cured through experience. I see ignorance, on every side, from people who believe there actually IS a “side.”

White people feel they are being accused of racism, black people feel that a real problem is being overlooked, and no one is understanding. "All of us are the ignorant products of our media, and this only ends with forgiveness. Our programming can only be overridden by real experiences."

AND THEN TO CONFUSE THE ISSUE WE HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

A narrative exists that black men are constantly harassed by the police and routinely brutalized with impunity, even when they have done nothing wrong, and there is an epidemic of police shootings of unarmed black men.

In reality, this narrative is false. Data shows that although white men experience such violence less often, the disparity is consistent with the racial gap in violent crime, suggesting that the role of racial bias is small.
The media’s acceptance of this false narrative poisons the relations between law enforcement and black communities throughout the country and results in violent protests that destroy property and sometimes even claim lives.

TONY TODAY:

A study by the Crime Prevention Research Center’s John R. Lott Jr. and economist Carlisle E. Moody at the College of William and Mary finds that white police officers may be less likely than their black counterparts to use deadly force against black suspects.

LOTT JR.

This study has been largely ignored by the media, but the pair’s findings align with previous studies that indicate racism does not play a significant role in the deaths of black Americans at the hands of police. Lott and Moody examined 1,333 more cases than are in the FBI data set and their findings show that white officers’ use of force is generally “race neutral.”

1. A White ex-cop who shot an unarmed black man in the back and killed him  gets 20 years in prison.
A bystander's video recording showed Walter Scott hurrying away as patrolman Michael Slager fired at him from behind. Scott was struck five times, officials said.

2. The World News Daily Report
The web site published an article reporting that police in Kentucky had shot a white coal miner after mistaking him for a black man. 37-year old Jason Morris had just finished his night shift in a mine operated by the Bell County Coal Corporation and was boarding his vehicle to head home when the deputies arrived. Seeing a dark faced individual enter a brand new Lincoln Navigator worth more than $75,000, the officers believed he was an African American man attempting to steal a vehicle. After he ignored three shouted warnings from the deputies, Mr Morris was shot five times.

The above report was entirely fabricated.

3. Police officers who shot a black man in Salt Lake city
They were cleared by the local district attorney. In a body cam video, Patrick Harmon is seen complying with officers. Though he is seemingly distraught, he stands near his bike and takes off his backpack as police had ordered. As the three officers on the scene prepared to handcuff him, he takes off. One of the officers can be heard saying, "I'll f---ing shoot you!" Then Officer Clinton Fox opens fire, striking Harmon three times. Another officer fires a Taser shot at  the same time. Harmon died at a hospital later that night.

4, The killing of George Floyd. Was this racism or stupidity?

On May 25, Minneapolis police officers arrested George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, after a convenience store employee called 911 and told the police that Mr. Floyd had bought cigarettes with a counterfeit $20 bill. Three former Minneapolis police officers were charged Wednesday with aiding and abetting murder in connection with the death of George Floyd while in their custody.

Derek Chauvin, is a white, police officer who was charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter after video footage emerged showing him kneeling on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes as Floyd lay handcuffed, crying out that he could not breathe. The original criminal complaint against Chauvin details that 2 more officers were involved during the arrest. According to the complaint, one held Floyd’s back and one held his legs. Floyd repeatedly told the officers that he could not breathe. He cried out for his deceased mother and asked the officers “please,” the complaint against Chauvin reads.

The Hennepin County medical examiner’s autopsy found that Floyd died from “cardiopulmonary arrest” that was complicated by police subduing him with restraint and neck compression. The autopsy also cited underlying health conditions as contributing to his death.

Three ex-cops, Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane, were charged with assisting Chauvin. All four officers were fired last week.
