CLIMATE; WHAT'S UP? BLOG # 2125; FEB 23,2018

THE MESSAGE:

The head of the Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruitt has repeatedly questioned the scientific consensus that rising levels of carbon dioxide from human-fuelled activity are warming the planet. In his latest pontification he questions whether or not global warming is harmful to mankind.

He claims that scientists really cannot be certain that by the year 2019 the planet will be unsuitable for our welfare. Pruitt says there are very important questions surrounding the climate issue that must be discussed. That’s one of the reasons why he wants an honest, open, transparent debate about what is known, and what is unknown, in order that people can be informed and able to make decisions as to dealing with the issues.

THE BLURB:

According to 'Wikipedia', carbon is a key component of all known life on Earth. Complex molecules are made up of carbon bonded with other elements, especially oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen. Carbon is abundant on Earth.

CJ Orach - people need power writes," Imagine A World Without Carbon – Dead It Would Be "Carbon Dioxide is the circle of life. Without Carbon Dioxide there would be no plants. Without Plants the Earth would be Black Not Green. Plants get Energy from the Sun, are quenched by water, fed by Carbon Dioxide creating Chlorophyll the miracle of life. Without carbon Dioxide there would be no life on the planet."

WHAT ABOUT POOR COUNTRIES?
CAN I EAT THEM?
Will the shivering and hungry poor of the world bow down to the green elitists Climate Change nonsense? Must they be forced to live in poverty with high carbon taxes.

We all should know that CO2 is part of the life cycle. But now CO2 is officially declared a pollutant! Citizens of the world need food, shelter, medicines, health care and education. All of the preceding require power from cheap and reliable energy. Human life cannot be supported and children will die if they are denied cheap and reliable energy from fossil fuel. Coal is the lowest cost and most efficient form of energy in the world today. Coal’s use in China and India is growing because of this fact.

The ironic reality is that by handcuffing the Canadian and US Energy Industry, the costs to the  consumer and to many  businesses will result in many of them laying off employees and or closing their doors. Look at the graph above. China and India  have no EPA regulators to constrain them in any way. Thus “Carbon” pollution from these countries  will be spewed into the atmosphere making the environment worse not better.

SOME THEORETICAL REVIEW
From the mid-19th to the mid-20th century, many theories were offered to explain the ice ages and other climate changes.  Most favoured were ideas about how the uplift of mountain ranges, or other reconfigurations of the Earth's surface, would alter the circulation of ocean currents and the pattern of winds. Other theories ranged from the extraterrestrial, such as a long-term cyclical variation of solar energy, to the deep Earth, such as massive volcanic eruptions. All these theories shared a problem. Given that something had put the Earth into a state conducive to glaciation, what made the ice sheets grow and then retreat, over and over again? None of the theories could readily explain the cycles.

James Croll, a 19th-century Scottish scientist developed a theory of climate change based on changes in the Earth's orbit.  published calculations of how the gravitational pulls of the Sun, Moon, and planets subtly affect the Earth's motion and orientation. The inclination of the Earth's axis and the shape of its orbit around the Sun oscillate gently in cycles lasting tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of years. During some periods the Northern Hemisphere would get slightly less sunlight during the winter than it would get during other centuries. Snow would accumulate. Croll argued that this would change the pattern of trade winds, leading to the deflection of warming currents like the Gulf Stream, and finally a self-sustaining ice age. Croll believed that the timing of the astronomical cycles, tens to hundreds of thousands of years long, roughly matched the timing of ice ages.

THE IPCC?

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the UN body for assessing the science related to climate change. It was established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 1988 to provide policymakers with regular scientific assessments concerning climate change, its implications and potential future risks, as well as to put forward adaptation and mitigation strategies. It has 195 member states.

The IPCC has three working groups: Working Group I, dealing with the physical science basis of climate change; Working Group II, dealing with impacts, adaptation and vulnerability; and Working Group III, dealing with the mitigation of climate change. It also has a Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories that develops methodologies for measuring emissions and removals.

THE QUESTION:

Would 'greenies' prefer an ice age to global warming?

THE LEMON:

Awarded to Pseudo Scientists at THE CRU for fudged data. Messages were pirated from the Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia (UEA) and reveal correspondence between British and American researchers engaged in fraudulent reporting of data to favour their own climate change agenda.
