BALANCED SOCIETY; BLOG # 179; APRIL 17, 2015

THE MESSAGE:

The Balanced Society

When people reflect on the type of society that they would choose to be a part of, they envision an idealized version of what it would be like. We may dream of a community where everyone acts responsibly for the benefit of all. But, we are left with the predicament of dealing with people who do not agree with our collective vision?

This is where missionaries, religious zealots, protestors and persuaders enter the picture. They believe, "People can be transformed. Soon they will see the world though our eyes and abandon their old ways."

Our dream keeps us on track and incorporates the need to realize a just society. However, we are faced with divergent opinions within society even if we do not completely understand them. We demand a better-managed world that solves issues while continuing to allow for a maximized personal freedom.

What about those who cannot be converted to our dreams? Obviously ISIS and other terrorist groups are not viable solutions. As we have seen, physical struggles cause as many problems as they solve.

The other alternative is to reflect on our strengths and weaknesses and make reasonable, intelligent compromises and adjustments to our position.

THE ULTIMATE ANSWER HAS TO BE, A BALANCED AND JUST SOCIETY

WE MUST HAVE:

>Traditional Family Values

Children require a nurturing environment that keeps them safe and secure. To accomplish this, it is necessary to provide positive, patient and tolerant role models. Both parents must contribute!

If a marital separation is required then it is imperative that they share equally in the development of any children. Never put down your ex partner in the presence of the children.

> Sound Education

Parents and teachers need to work together for the benefit of children.

It is mandatory that schools recognize and understand parental concerns and that parents trust and recognize the expertise and guidance provided by excellent schools.

> Sense of belonging

Nothing encourages co-operation more than feeling useful and wanted. It seems to me that experiencing daily hunger, a lack of  gainful employment , loneliness or the realization that nobody cares about you, are reasons to opt out of society.

An abandoned or uncared-for individual is a ripe target for extremist organizations. If we can’t save everyone then let us save as many as we can. In a dream worthy society it is not necessary to like everyone.

There will always be differences based on individual skill, education and personality. However, society must provide all members with a reasonable opportunity to become functioning and productive citizens.

"No person, no place, and no thing has any power over us, for 'we' are the only thinkers in our mind. When we create peace and harmony and balance in our minds, we will find it in our lives.
