THE COMEBACK:
“YOU’RE NOT WRONG YOU’RE JUST AN ASSHOLE!"
THE MESSAGE:
LOOKING BACK.
By the second half of the 11th century, Islamic Turks, occupied land near what is today Istanbul. They held regions of the Middle East, including Jerusalem. Alexios, the Byzantine emperor, viewed Muslim advances as a threat to Christianity, and called on Pope Urban II (NOT KEITH) for support in repelling the invaders. The Pope appealed to thousands of followers to retake the Holy Land from the Muslims, with the promise of saving their souls. Thus, in 1096 the Crusades began. They reached Jerusalem and seized the city in 1099.
En route to the Holy Land and taking advantage of divisions among the Muslims, the crusaders, referred to by Arabs as ’the Franj' besieged Antioch. After a difficult siege, the Muslim sentinel in charge of defending the city, allowed them to enter, opening up windows so that they could climb in with ropes. The Franj invaders repaid the traitors by slaughtering men, women, and children.
Elsewhere, Saladin a Muslim leader, managed to unite the Muslims, expel the invaders and take Jerusalem in 1187. He was an intelligent military strategist and a well-rounded, austere individual who led by example. He was also known as a generous man who was very sensitive to human pain. Saladin achieved his goals and the last of the Franj were expelled from Muslim lands in 1291
THE BLURB:
The Crusades ended seven centuries ago, but the battles are still present in the minds and actions of millions of people today.
SOME ISSUES TODAY
Mahmoud Shalash, Imam for the Islamic Center of Lexington Kentucky, had contacted Lexington cops and Homeland Security, claiming to be suffering from Islamophobic threats. Four years later, Imam Mahmoud Shalash is in jail. He was charged with involvement in a murder plot. It was revealed that he was a member of the Muslim Students Association, a terror linked Muslim Brotherhood hate group. Shalash is recorded as telling Muslim men to beat their wives but only lightly “It’s in the Koran”.
The Council on American–Islamic Relations declared, “Our nation’s leaders must send a clear message challenging the rising Islamophobia that leads to Islamophobic threats. A news release blamed the “extreme anti-Muslim rhetoric” of Donald Trump and Ben Carson.
INDIA’S 2,582 MILE BORDER WITH BANGLADESH
It is longer than America’s 1,954 mile border with Mexico. The two countries are divided not only by that border, but by religion. India has an 80% Hindu majority and a rising 13% Muslim minority. Bangladesh has a 90% Muslim majority. And the tide of Muslim migration from Bangladesh to India began to shift the population balance in some Indian states.India has spent decades building fences, topping them with barbed wire, and installing lights. The lights are there so that the guards can see. Unlike America, there are guards, they have guns, and they shoot.
DANIEL GREENFIELD,
a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, is an investigative journalist and writer focusing on the radical Left and Islamic terrorism. He is a New York writer born in Israel, writes about radical Islam. It is a view based on what appears to be an insoluble problem affecting much of the world as we know it today.
Greenfield emphasizes:
- The vast majority of civil wars over the last ten years have taken place in Muslim countries.
- Muslim countries are also some of the poorest in the world.
- Muslim countries also have high birth rates.
- Combine violence and poverty with a population boom and you get a permanent migration crisis.
- Muslim countries with lower literacy rates, especially for women, are never going to be economic winners unless it involves oil.
- Unstable dictatorships will never be able to provide social mobility or access to the good life. At best they’ll hand out subsidies for bread.
- Growing populations divided along tribal and religious lines are competing for a limited amount of land, power and wealth.
He postulates that there are only two solutions; war or migration. Either you fight and take what you want at home; or you go abroad and take what you want there.
Let’s assume that the Iraq War had never happened. How would a religiously and ethnically divided Iraq have managed its growth from 13 million in the eighties to 30 million around the Iraq War to 76 million in 2050? The answer is a bloody civil war followed by genocide, ethnic cleansing and migration. What’s happening now would have happened anyway. It was already happening under Saddam Hussein. Baghdad has one of the highest population densities in the world. And it has no future. The same is true across the region. The only real economic plan anyone here has is to get money from the West.
HERE HE CONCENTRATES ON THE WESTERN WORLD
Plan A for getting money out of the West is creating a crisis that will force it to intervene. That can mean anything from starting a war to aiding terrorists that threaten the West.
Plan B is to move to Europe.
It’s the only real economic plan that works. At least until the West runs out of native and naïve Westerners who foot the bill for all the migrants, refugees and outright settlers.
Many will be officially unemployed even while unofficially making money through everything from slave labor to organized crime. European authorities will blame their failure to participate in the job market on racism rather than acknowledging that they exist within the confines of an alternate economy.
It’s not only individuals or families who can pursue Plan B. Turkey wants to join the European Union. It’s one solution for an Islamist populist economy built on piles of debt. The EU has a choice between dealing with the stream of migrants from Turkey moving to Europe. Or all of Turkey moving into Europe.
HE GOES ON TO BLAME MUSLIMS
The permanent refugee crisis is a structural problem caused by the conditions of the Muslim world. The West can’t solve the crisis at its source. Only Muslims can do that. And there are no easy answers. But the West can and should avoid being dragged down into the black hole of Muslim dysfunction.
Muslim civil wars will continue even if the West never intervenes in them because their part of the world is fundamentally unstable. These conflicts will lead to the displacement of millions of people. But even without violence, economic opportunism alone will drive millions to the West. And those millions carry with them the dysfunction of their culture that will make them a burden and a threat.
SYRIA
Solving Syria will solve nothing. The Muslim world is full of fault lines. It’s growing and it’s running out of room to grow. We can’t save Muslims from themselves. We can only save ourselves from their violence.
THE QUESTION:
IS THEIR HOPE?
Canada’s Muslim population is about one and a half million and accounts for over 7% of the vote, neither main party can afford to disregard its concerns. It is essential to know the history of societies in order to understand the current ways of thinking, feeling, and acting of their inhabitants. It is impossible to resolve conflict and achieve peace without putting yourself in others’ shoes.
