WHAT’S UP? BLOG # 2342; FRI MAR 18, 2O22

THE COMEBACK:

WHY DO YOU ALWAYS ARGUE WITH ME?

I'D LIKE TO SEE THINGS FROM YOUR POINT OF VIEW, BUT CAN’T GET MY HEAD THAT FAR UP MY ASS!

THE MESSAGE:

We have a society today that is living in the future.  Living in the past is not a wise alternative; however, I think the pendulum needs to swing towards the centre and society must learn and accept the many lessons that the past sends our way. The last 3 years have been very trying for young students who have been deprived of friendships and extracurricular activity. Many small businesses have been severely damaged, some permanently. Hospitals and health care workers have been occupied beyond belief.  There are so many examples of challenges to accept and social challenges to overcome. In the Province of Ontario our government is relying heavily on the opinions of medical professionals. The opposition leans towards criticism and no real solutions. Our Federal Government seems to be led by an individual who lacks experience, qualification and integrity. We all need the WISDOM and FORESIGHT to see. We require the FAITH to believe in what we see and the COURAGE TO ACT sensibly and with HONESTY.

TONY TODAY:

Europe has been dealt a severe blow by the Russian machine. Millions have been forced to flee from their homes in Ukraine.  The USA  has been severely handicapped by an election that reacted to the personalty flaws of an effective leader. China continues to resist a sensible solution to public benefit. Canada struggles under immature and selfish motivation. The United Nations is totally ineffective.

GREED

There is too much greed in our world. Consider professional athletes who earn millions annually and  say We need this because our careers are so short.”  Franchise owners charge insanely high ticket prices so that it becomes almost impossible for an average earner to take his family to any games.

CORRUPTION

Let's concentrate on wealthy CEOs who manipulate the markets for the wealthy shareholders. Some greedy bastards snuggle up to governments by donating dollars to government in exchange for favours that boom their profits. Governments don't create productive jobs.  They create civil servants and wasted money. There can be no doubt that businesses create jobs. Governments should leave job creation to industry and business by removing barriers to expansion.  Let them refrain from handing out public monies AND FAVOURS to big companies. Honest entrepreneurs will find their own way to get the job done.  Big oil and banks, among others do make sizeable profits; however, they create jobs. Lets blame our governments and Lobbyists for helping to create loopholes that allow them to avoid paying as much tax as they should.

ADVERTISING

We are bombarded with advertising (How much does this add to the final cost of the product to the consumer?)  Pharmaceutical companies convince us that they have pills (EXPENSIVE PILLS) to cure all our ailments; BUT CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR BECAUSE THEY COULD RESULT IN TERRIBLE  SIDE EFFECTS AND EVEN DEATH).  Many Canadians have more money in insurance than in a savings account.  We max out our credit cards and pay huge interest fees on the overdue balance. Where are we headed? Where will we end up?

THE STUFF:

OLD FARTS

It's not a bad thing to be called an Old Fart.

During the National Anthem They remove their hats, stand at attention and sing without embarrassment. They know the words and believe in them. Old Farts remember World War II, Normandy , Spitfires and Hitler. They remember the Atomic Bomb, Vietnam , the Korean War, the Cold War, the Moon Landing and all the Peacekeeping Missions from 1945 to 2005. Old Farts hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection. Old Farts get embarrassed if someone swears in front of women and children and they don't like any filthy language on TV. Old Farts have moral courage and personal integrity. They seldom brag except about their children and grandchildren. Old Farts know our great country is protected, not by politicians, but by the men and women in uniform. This country needs Old Farts with their work ethic, sense of responsibility, pride in their country and decent values.

We need them now more than ever. Thank Goodness for Old Farts! I was taught to respect my elders. It's just getting harder to find them.
