WE ARE THE WORLD, FOR NOW; BLOG #2334: FRI JAN 21 13, 2022

THE COMEBACK:

OH SHIT!

I’M TRYING BUT IT’S TOO DAMN COLD.

THE MESSAGE:

Is planet earth today evolving or changing?  Evolution is a gradual directional change. It definitely is a reality that, over many years, leads to a more advanced or complex form of existence, growth and development. While change is the process of becoming different.

In my opinion and for understanding my world today, the most significant factor is Time. The evolution of the planet is, no doubt, ongoing. The argument arises over the current situation. Is it possible for mankind to control evolution? Most certainly it is not.

Can mankind's contribution be described as  big, small, major, minor, dramatic, drastic, rapid, slow, social, economic, organizational, technological, personal, cultural, political, technical, environmental, institutional, educational, genetic, physical, chemical, industrial, geological, global, local, positive, negative, significant, important, structural, strategic? Depending on the observer all of the above are possible in our lifetime.

TONY TODAY:

I do not believe that any of man’s activities in today’s world will effect the evolution of the planet. Certainly future generations will be affected by our actions today. But can science really predict the future condition of the planet  thirty years from today? There will be changes no doubt; however, they remain totally unpredictable.

I was born into a world that was being decimated by World War 2. We managed to survive and thrive after this man-made tragedy. Did the powers that be or scientists predict our recovery?

AS FATHER DAVID BELYEA FROM ST MICHAEL’S COLLEGE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO AVOWED:

Future generations must be able to face whatever realities they may receive. The planet will continue to evolve on its own in spite of and without the contributions of the human race! Surely we will all be victims of our own decisions. “MAN is insignificant in the grand scheme of things."

A STUDENT AND FRIEND, GEORGE SMITH, wrote in one of his articles on Forever Young, "Father Belyea’s lectures were light on dogma and heavy on ethics and morality taught through the works of literary greats like Mauriac, Joyce, Salinger, Camus and Dostoevsky. The credit for any love of books I have today goes to Father Belyea.”
Father Belyea came to my home in Fenelon Falls and addressed the school’s graduation ceremony. The audience loved what he had to say!

But who gets the blame for the multitude of wars and struggles in today’s world. Hunger, Poverty, Corruption, Greed, Jealousy, Hatred etc. are rampant and deserve more of our attention than ‘Global Warming’. Can someone predict for me the social condition of the world in fifty years? Will First Nations survive in Canada? Will Britain be better off because of Brexit? Will the USA survive as a world power? Will China still be blamed for most evils? Will Africa have fewer or more countries? Will Australia and California continue to have ravaging wild fires? Will there be more or fewer volcanic eruptions, or earthquakes?  Will the poor and starving people of our world melt away? Will the United Nations ever solve anything?
WHO HAS THE ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS?

As Mel Lastman used to say:
