AND LIFE GOES ON! BLOG #2309 ; FRI JUL 3O,2021

THE COMEBACK:

I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK!

I’LL MEET YOU HALF WAY

THE MESSAGE:

Thomas Malthus, the English economist and demographer
observed that an increase in any nation's food production improved the well-being of its citizens. This improvement was only temporary because it led to population growth, which in turn restored the original level of per capita production.
Malthus  saw population growth as being inevitable whenever conditions improved, thereby precluding real progress towards a utopian society.

The somewhat circular phenomenon of modern mankind has a propensity to favour abundant population growth rather than the maintenance of a high standard of living. Populations have a tendency to grow until the lower class suffers hardship  and a greater susceptibility to poverty,  weakness. Governments and politicians tend to put pressure on news and social media in order to win the votes of these people. They promise that help and improvements are on the way if they are elected to stay in power or to take over. Hypocrisy today is rampant!
Today's politicians are certainly not convinced that Malthusian Theory is indeed something that societies must deal with in order to have effective government.

TONY TODAY:

I know “EW!"

Our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, seems to be more concerned with his popularity abroad than with figuring out what is best for Canada. Wherever he goes or whenever he speaks, he appears to be trapped  between romanticism and realism.

TRUDEAU AND FREELAND ... STILL “EW"

I love Canada and cannot imagine a better country in which to reside and  raise a family; however, I must say that I am of the opinion that the Canadian Senate is a total waste of time and money and the Legislature is like a child's  playground for some members to ridicule and accuse other members of perceived mistakes rather than concentrating on solid recommendations and solutions.

Jagmeet Singh of the Federal NDP is promising that they will deliver 1 million new jobs if they are elected. The NDP plan includes commitments to improve worker benefits — such as sick leave — and investments in infrastructure to build more affordable housing and retrofit buildings. "We need to invest in those areas where people lost jobs and to create more jobs," Singh told a press conference in Windsor, Ontario.

Singh's announcement comes as party leaders have been making announcements across the country in anticipation of an election call that's widely expected by the end of the summer.

The province of Ontario is in the process of recovering from the disasters of the Covid pandemic.  It seems that Premier Doug Ford is on the right path by lowering hydro costs, encouraging employment growth and gradually removing lockdowns.

In Toronto we have a  mayor, John Tory, who is a man of integrity, wisdom and courage. I believe he would increase his effectiveness if he would publicly support Ford's decision to reduce the number of counsellors for the city.

Maybe Andrea Horvath should be the person to receive the paddle!

OH CANADA!
If one takes the time to examine the  federal government approach to some aboriginal communities, the results are not in any way acceptable.  Grant monies are absorbed by friends of some chiefs in the name of tribal administration salaries; while community needs remain unfulfilled.
More leaders like chief Louie of the Osoyoos Band in British Columbia are needed!

The Residential Schools disaster is something that all Canadians should recognize as a totally ignorant attempt to transform and educate. Is it fair to saddle our future generations with debt because of dumb religious asses that committed abuse and several murders long ago?  Tax the churches!

British Columbia and Quebec, who have opposed pipelines from Alberta's oil sands, want to keep the concern for Canada as a whole on the back burner. It is a no brainer that modern pipelines would be much safer than rail transport. Canada has an abundance of land and a need for more job opportunities.

The party system of government certainly does not lend its organization or agendas to the promotion of democracy. Their main concerns are to attain and maintain power! It would be far more productive to share ideas and support the greater good through cooperation and accord.

IM READING A BOOK ABOUT ANTI-GRAVITY. I CAN’T PUT IT DOWN!

THE QUESTION:

Is mankind really capable of appreciating the traditions and lifestyle of different cultures than their own?

THE LEMON:

Awarded to former tribal chief Teresa Spence of The Attawapiskat Band.

After a five-year tenure as chief of Attawapiskat, marked by corruption and greed, Theresa Spence resigned to seek a larger political role only to be rebuffed by her fellow chiefs.
