THE MESSAGE:

Most people can remember their favourite teacher. They may want to sub-categorize them into elementary, secondary and post secondary schools. They could be remembering their favourite subject and the teacher who was in charge. They may also want to break it down into different categories that spring to mind.

BEST TEACHER EVER!

The fact remains that there exists a multitude of reasons that surround the choices people make when attempting to answer the question. For myself, I can come up with one very important quality. That quality could represent many different fields when it comes to choosing a favourite. It boils down to one consideration, Leadership. Who was the best leader.....Wife, Mother, Father, Sibling, Gramma, Gramps, Aunt, Uncle, Cousin, In law, Step up, Best friend, Teacher, Boss or other?

 WHAT MAKES A GOOD LEADER? 

GOOD LISTENING SKILLS & AN OPEN MIND. 

A manager who  listens to an assistant sending a message, should not simply hear a voice. When the assistant speaks the message has a definite and intended meaning; however,  it can be misinterpreted by the manager.  The result may be a reactionary feeling that causes problems and complications between  the manager and his assistant.  It is always the responsibility of the listener  to make sure that the message received is indeed what the sender intended. If a manager is meeting with an assistant it is imperative that the manager be a good listener when dealing with issues. 

KNOWLEDGE,  INSIGHT , WISDOM & VISION

A leader should have the education and mentality that allows for a complete analysis of any situation that may be applicable to all followers. A sports team will follow dutifully whenever a coach has drilled on each and every experience that may arise for the athletes. The respected and successful coach must be truly aware of each player’s skill set, attitude and overall strength. 

AUTHORITY, CHARISMA, CHARACTER, COMPASSION, PATIENCE, AND MORALITY.

A leader may gain his authority by using ‘BIG STICK POWER’. This authority usually works when the leader, who depends on this type, is physically present. In his absence the followers may disobey the rules. Most politicians gain the trust of voters by having a certain amount of charisma or physical appeal. Leaders lacking compassion may carelessly dismiss certain candidates due to their lack of patience and compassion. This leader's effectiveness is compromised. The effective leader has an obvious quality of character that allows him to install in followers a code of ethics and morality that helps them to be very effective. The followers stick to making their decisions and choices in an ethical manner without the constant presence of the leader. The effective leader always practices what he preaches!
