The problem is real. it exists in most big cities, where children are raised without knowing who their father is and come under the influence of gangs who recruit them to a world of drugs, sex, and gun violence.

Some children and adolescents are motivated to join a gang for a sense of connection or to define a new sense of who they are. Others are motivated by peer pressure, or a need to protect themselves and their family or because a family member is in a gang.

George Floyd laid to rest in Houston

By now, most of the world knows of George Floyd. It goes without saying that one gang is in definite need of extermination -‘Over the Top Policing’. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz proclaimed, "Minnesotans have raised their voice,” adding many people have come to the state Capitol with calls for change. "The last three weeks have been some of the most tumultuous and painful in Minnesota's history.”

CHICAGO

The Crime Commission publication "The Gang Book 1012” reveals that the city of Chicago, Illinois has more gang members than any other city in the United States: 150,000.

CANADA

There are more than 430 active gangs in Canada. Most street gang members are adults; however the Winnipeg Police Service maintains that many participants begin their involvement as children.In 1917 the city of Calgary, Alberta was named as the cleanest city in Canada. And it is also widely considered as one of the cleanest in the world. Its public green spaces and parks span more than 7,500 hectares.

ONTARIO

Ontario is fighting illegal gun and gang violence by providing new resources to local police, prosecutors and community partners across the province. Included in the Guns, Gangs and Violence Reduction Strategy are prevention programs for communities and youth at high risk of involvement in gangs. It uses programs, that concentrate on gun violence and victimization. and are designed to help break the cycle of offending. They help to prevent the cycle of criminal activity. They also support at-risk youth and young adults by creating alternatives to joining a gang or exit strategies for those already involved in gang activity. Their mandate is to support communities through funding, intelligence and security.

Police say Toronto has about 100 street gangs. The Toronto Police Service's Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force is comprised of 4 investigative units that include the Gun and Gang Task Force, Firearms Enforcement Unit, Major Project Section and Biker Enforcement Unit. The Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force concentrates on supporting shooting-related investigations, and the arrest and prosecution of armed persons, smugglers and traffickers.

Thunder Bay, Ont. had a per capita rate of 6.38 murders per 100,000 population.
