IS MAN INSIGNIFICANT? BLOG # 2229, FRI MAR 27,2020

THE COMEBACK:

An aging, widowed father and son are living by themselves.  The father has just made breakfast for the son. Feeling a tad lonely and looking for some comfort he asks his son,

“What will you do if you wake up and discover that I have passed away?”

The son answers,

 I’ll make my own breakfast.”

THE MESSAGE:

Hatred is a common emotion that wastes energy and builds stress. Rather than hate someone who does not like you, it is far more productive to forgive and realize that the reason for the dislike is often probably of your own doing.

What or whom do I hate?

PRIME MINISTER TRUDEAU?

Let me count the ways. No! No! No! I don’t have enough space or time! LET’S MOVE ON!

TONY TODAY

What and who are the common targets of hatred in our society?

THE GOVERNMENT
Must establish and maintain a strong, effective regulatory system that protects the health, safety and security for its citizens without political interference or threats of manipulation that become barriers to necessary investment.

Sustainable certainty, for potential investors through effective and sustainable regulation rather than government subsidies and favouritism, is needed to encourage business growth and development.

THE PREMIER OF ONTARIO

He is not good on his feet, unpopular among fellow councillors, rough around the edges, somewhat impulsive, sometimes opinionated; however, Rob Ford has a big heart. He cares about the welfare of his constituents and has a good vision for the future of Toronto and Ontario.

THE MAYOR
Tory raises taxes. Didn't he promise not to do so? He spends much time visiting events for potential supporters. His focus is on public transit improvement. Not really ‘hateworthy'.

THE OPPOSITION

They are seldom productive. They whine and shudder at those in power so that they might replace them one day.

THE HACKERS

They need to step up their game and delete loans, bad credit and mortgages of the middle class of Toronto and Ontario. Ha ha, as if!

THE HOMELESS

Because they evoke guilt but not much empathy. Are plans to help solve the issue encumbered by greed and inconvenience? It’s a sad state of reality when looking at the homeless campsites on the Rosedale Valley Road.

PROFESSIONAL SPORTS

They cave in to the money makers because those who make the decisions allow ‘Free Agency’ to prevail. This means that rich franchises pay exorbitant amounts of money to acquire talent that is being stripped from his current team and fans. Another result is that families cannot attend games together because of high ticket costs.

THE POLICE
why can't police provide more protection for vulnerable neighbourhoods and innocent victims of crime, drive-by shooting and murder?

Robyn Maynard

She claims “Black communities that have been advocating against injustice are either disbelieved, or the kinds of discrimination that black folks have at the hands of the police continue to be minimized. If slavery is mentioned at all, it often is very minimized. So it’s really important that we look at the fact that slavery was practised and legal in Canada for over 200 years. That is a very important part of the history of anti-blackness in Canada that is so often erased.”  Is that so???

Desmond Cole

I have been stopped, if not always carded, at least 50 times by the police in Toronto, Kingston and across southern Ontario. By now, I expect it could happen in any neighbourhood, day or night, whether I am alone or with friends. These interactions don’t scare me anymore. They make me angry. Because of that unwanted scrutiny, that discriminatory surveillance, I’m a prisoner in my own city. Is this racism or dislike of certain behaviours. How can we solve this issue?

TV COMMERCIALS

Ads on TV always seem to make females look silly and impressionable, especially the Casino ads in Ontario. How about the lady with the gap teeth expressing frustration with the hotel in the Trivago ad?

POLITICAL DIPLOMACY

Many think that Trump is dangerous. Others love his actions, if not his tweets or speeches. Is the situation another example of“HOW THE WEST WAS WON”?

TRAFFIC PLANNERS

They refuse to accept cars for the city. While Transit is very good and mostly reliable, Toronto needs more one way streets, expressway tolls to encourage ride pooling, pedestrians who obey traffic signals at busy intersections and co-ordinated traffic signals at strategic hours.

THE MEDIA

Hopefully journalism always tells the truth. Unfortunately there are other factors and influences at play that are designed to benefit selfish interests above the greater good of society.

MAN MADE CLIMATE CHANGE

Certainly we experience changes in climate. It has always been cyclical! To predict the future and turn on the alarm buttons is a useless pursuit. Climate scientists use words like could, possibly, it may, studies show etc. They  even coin  phrases like 'virtual certainty'. Ha? I believe that man is an insignificant species in the 'grand scheme of things'!
According to the official opposition party of Ontario, a government decision to cancel an eastern Ontario wind farm to save local bat species was based on faulty science and could cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars., the province’s official opposition said Friday. They continued to publicize that the use flimsy scientific evidence in this manner will undermine the credibility of scientific work that is being done all across Canada and the world. WHAT CREDIBILITY???

BRAINWASHING SCAMS
'Bull shit by the decade’. Is this another song by Cyndi Lauper?
THE SIXTIES: Oil reserves will be depleted in 10 years
THE SEVENTIES: Another ice age in 10 years
THE EIGHTIES: Acid rain will destroy all crops in 10 years
THE NINETIES: The Ozone Layer will be destroyed in 10 years
THE MILLENNIUM: The ice caps will disappear in 10 years.
TODAY: Millions of people around the world encumber cities with blockades pushing the man made climate scare forward. Many believe that the Australian wild fires are the result of man made climate ignorance.

THE MUSIC:
Heartaches by the number, Cyndi Lauper

THE QUESTION:

Can science predict the future with certainty?

THE LEMON:
Awarded to the teachers of Greta Thunberg. “How dare you!"

THE QUOTE:

“The future ain’t what it used to be” Yogi Berra
