NOT JUST ANOTHER MURDER STORY? BLOG # 2079; April 07,2017

THE MESSAGE:

There is some controversy about whether or not a person has been given 'the evil gene' at birth. Were Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer born evil or did they develop an evil persona due to family or environmental factors?
JEFFREY DAHMER

TED BUNDY

Data points out that most mass murderers are born in November. Out of a total of more than 100 in the study, seventeen serial killers were born in November, compared with an average of nine for other months.

MARK DADDS
Mark is a parenting expert and professor from the University of New South Wales. He says some children literally cannot see the love in their mother's eyes. His research suggests that the ability to make eye contact is vital in learning how to love other people.

For the past five years, he has been working with children who have been referred to his Sydney clinic for sustained rages, continual aggression, calculated violence and, occasionally, cruelty to animals. They possess some of the worst behavioural problems and score highly for ''callous, unemotional'' traits. In his studies he found it was these children who would not meet their mother's gaze, even when told they were loved.

Professor Dadds distinguishes between children who are emotionally ''hot'' and lash out at the world and the much smaller subset of ''cold'' children  who don't react emotionally, don't care about others' feelings and don't show remorse.

Disciplining the 'Cold' child   doesn't have much effect. They're a troubling group whose behaviour, unchecked, can turn into violence, criminality and isolation as they grow older. Studies suggest these are the children who could grow up to be psychopaths.

The 'Hot' child who causes problems at home and school tends to be impulsive and highly emotional. They see hostility everywhere and lash
out. Their aggression is a reaction to what they perceive,

A psychiatrist and prof. at Cambridge U. states that evil is the absence of empathy, and that narcissists, borderline personalities and psychopaths share a neurological disability that short-circuits their empathetic responses.

THE BLURB:

THE CLARK BROTHERS
BORN TO BE EVIL?

Victims of heredity and terrible family environment, the Clark brothers developed bizarre tastes. One that included an appreciation for human flesh. Researchers concluded that Hadden and Bradfield Clark were cannibals as well as vindictive, mean-spirited monsters.

In an interview, a childhood friend recalls his experience with Hadden. “Sometimes, he couldn’t control himself. If something didn’t go his way, he’d get very upset. All the kids would walk away and wait for him to calm down.”

Born Evil

Adrian Havill's new book reveals the  heinous crimes of the Clark brothers.  It is  True Story of Cannibalism and Serial Murder that paints a frightening picture of the brothers’ depravity.

They grew up the eldest of four children in the northeastern U.S. where their chemist father earned a comfortable living. Both parents were heavy drinkers who put their children on an emotional roller coaster. The boys developed explosive tempers at an early age.

HADDEN CLARK

Hadden would kidnap and kill the pets of kids he didn’t like. Apparently his stay at home mom was devastated that Hadden wasn't conceived as the girl she had always wanted. She compensated by putting him in girls dresses and ruffles.

After joining the U.S. Navy, he was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and discharged. Is it any wonder, considering the woeful parenting  they received, that the two boys were doomed. Were they destined to become evil adult murderers?

Homeless and living in his truck, forty-year-old Hadden Clark slept with a teddy bear  and, at times, dressed as a woman while strolling through town. He carried 28 carving knives, a straight razor, and a gun in his truck.

When the reclusive loner was arrested in 1992 for the stabbing murders of two local girls, no one was surprised. It was after his incarceration that the surprises came, popping up like half-buried corpses.

While serving a seventy-year sentence, Hadden  admitted to murdering at least a dozen women; cannibalizing them and using their leftover body parts as fishing bait. His multiple personalities had difficulty leading authorities to the bodies of all the victims.

BRADFIELD CLARK

Bradfield Clark, 66, has been behind bars since 1985, after killing his married coworker Trish Mak during a dinner invitation two years prior, cooking some of her body parts on a barbecue grill and eating them.  Bradfield is currently serving his time in Vacaville, California.

THE QUESTION:

Is a penny too much to pay for some thoughts?
