EXTREMISM; BLOG # 2011; DECEMBER 18, 2015

THE MESSAGE:

Every man needs a cause: however, when causes become extreme positions, they are generally painful to the many who do not share the same philosophies.

EXTREMISM:

IT COMES IN MANY DISGUISES
It lurks behind every TREE; rears its head beyond the CLOUDS; follows every FOOTPRINT; mines every MOUNTAIN; SEEKS TO CONTROL the natural reservoirs, lakes and seas; LOVES all creatures (mankind the least); argues FANATICALLY for the TRUE GOD; POLLUTES freely and COLLECTS souvenirs.

It loves speed and seeks it out in so many different aspects. It worships exclusivity and craves bigger and better inventions. It loves politics and power and hates competition. It seeks out untold wealth and guards it closely.

Italians would exclaim "cazzo". Spaniards might utter "que cono". Someone from Germany unleashes "was zum teuful". Hans Brinker would give out a "hvad fanden". Loosely translated they express varying degrees of frustration and resignation. They are best compared to the ever popular "WTF?".

CAUSES:

  • Some are unselfish; most are not.
  • Some have a modicum of merit; most do not.
  • Some are genuine; many are hypocritical .
  • Some are popular; few are universal.
  • Some are sensible; many are reactionary.
  • Many are not acceptable; very few are.
  • Many provide blinkers; some merely a single eye patch.
  • Many are protested in public; more remain silent
  • Many depend on brainwashing; some are actually based on research and chosen freely.
  • Many are alarmist; many beyond reason.

The Islamic State

Since the latest terrorist attacks in Paris and California, President Obama and a range of other Western leaders have agreed that ISIS must be crushed, Syria and Iraq stabilized, and the flow of refugees reversed. The successful waging of this war requires all out efforts and participation by the WEST  (including the Canadian Air Force) and a willingness to abandon old customs and seek new allies. Wake up Justin and tone down the rhetoric!

The war with Islamist extremism must include an allegiance with Russia. Turkey is also a  necessary ally.  Turkey’s interests in Syria must be respected. The West must not shift toward unconditional backing for Russia and  Syria at the expense of Turkey. In return the Turks needs to provide  firm guarantees including not buying ISIS oil or assisting  Islamic State in other ways, directly or indirectly.

Russia’s position in Syria can be compared to that of the U.S.,  in Iraq. Both nations are using air power to support the armies of the existing states, in the conviction that not to do so would lead to a victory for ISIS and its allies and for Islamist terrorism and extremism to spread throughout the world.

It is imperative  to support the existing Syrian and Iraqi states in alliance with Russia and Iran. The struggle must also plan on creating what in effect will become new states in northern Iraq and eastern Syria.

THE QUESTION:

Does the withdrawal of extra curricular activities at Elementary Schools have any merit?
