THE COMEBACK:
"Why don’t you just shut up?"
I know I have the right to remain silent; however, I just don’t have that ability!
THE MESSAGE:
Back in May of this year my grandson Connor and I attended a show at The Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto featuring John Cleese of Monty Python fame. The tickets had been generously gifted to me by my employees. The title of the presentation was ‘Why There is No Hope’.
We enjoyed the show immensely and I came away with a lasting impression of ‘our world'. Later while relaxing at home I began to reflect on the reality of the world in which we live. There are too many evils in societies everywhere that cause too much sadness, hunger, destruction and hopelessness. I was reminded of an email that was sent to me by a fellow Canadian. I do not know the author who created the text but I present it here for your consideration. I have taken the liberty of some editing in order to update the text.
THE BLURB:
Why should people be depressed?
Over five thousand years ago, MOSES said to the children of Israel:
· "Pick up your shovels,
· mount your asses and camels,
· and I will lead you to the Promised Land."
· "Lay down your shovels,
· sit on your asses, and light up a Camel,
· this IS the Promised Land."
Today, in Canada, Prime Minister Trudeau and his Liberals:
· have taxed our carbon consuming asses,
· outlawed the use of camels on pipeline projects,
· caused us to mortgage our Promised Land!
I was so depressed last night thinking about Health Care Plans, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, depleted savings and retirement funds, etc., I called a Suicide Hotline.
After pressing 1 for English I was connected to a call centre in Iran.
I told them I was suicidal. They got excited and wanted to know if I could drive a truck......
Folks, we're screwed. Cleese was right! There is no hope!
THE QUESTION:
Is there truly a promised land where we are all humane and unselfish?
To Hassan Rouhani, President of Iran for his Nuclear aggression.
Henry Havelock Ellis, known as Havelock Ellis, was an English physician, writer, progressive intellectual and social reformer who studied human sexuality
