BLOG NUMBER 67; FEB 15, 2013; THE 'C' WORD

The ‘C’ Word

The reference is  to the term CREEP.  What does it mean when a person refers to or thinks of another or self as a creep or creepy?

Is the use of the term meant to describe someone, denigrate someone, define someone, or reimage someone?

WE SOMETIMES DESCRIBE ANOTHER PERSON AS:

Weirdo                             Goon
Simpleton                         Schmuck
Yucky                               Idiot
Cretin                                Imbecile
Dork                                 Looser
Half-wit                            Freak
AirHead

Bastard                               Crud
Boor                                   Scuzzball
Dirtbag                               Slime
Fink                                    Coward
Jackass                                Slob
Rat Fink                              Vermin
These characteristics are used in most cases, to refer to someone who has offended another by his appearance, some action or words. They can be summarized and often are by the word CREEP.

SOME TERMS USED TO DESCRIBE THE CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR OF A VERITABLE CREEP  (creepus, veritias porcatus)
Animalistic                         Inhuman
Barbaric                              Savage
Callous                                Sick

These feelings are used to describe notorious behaviors of people in our lives and the news--accounts of Serial Murderers, War Criminals, Scammers, Hate Mongers, Rapists, Child Molesters, Cyber Criminals, Home Invaders, Honour Murderers, etc.

THE TERM CAN ALSO BE USED TO DESCRIBE SOMEWHAT LESS OFFENSIVE BEHAVIOR

Loudmouthed                               Malodorous
Insolent                                         Ill-mannered
Greedy                                          Anti-social
Insensitive                                     Foul-mouthed
Selfish                                           Braggart

These feelings are evoked when someone is simply unpleasant to be around. At times several of these descriptions are lumped together.

OTHER USAGE, TAKES THE FORM OF DENIGRATION, AND CAN BE FOUND IN TRADITION AND CULTURE. STRANGERS ARE THOUGHT OF AS CREEPY.
Members of different Tribes.
Members of different Cultures
Members of a different Religion
Members of a Cult
Members of a lower class of society
Members of a Political Party
Although there may be a small amount of personal contact and involvement; these divisions are passed on and mostly maintained

SOME PEOPLE TEND TO DEFINE THEMSELVES. SOME JUDGE OTHERS AND ASSIGN THEM TO CONVENIENT CATEGORIES.

Victims of abuse, neglect or deprivation always develop a low self-esteem
"Why am I such a loser? Why do people pick on me?"

The black sheep of the day are often thought of as creepy
"Oh he's one of those" That says it all.

SOME PEOPLE TEND TO REIMAGE OTHERS AS A DEFENSIVE MECHANISM. JUDGING OTHERS MAKES THEM SEEM MORE RELEVANT OR DISIREABLE.  OFTEN THEY VIEW SOME OF THEIR PEERS AS CREEPS.

Satisfaction through another’s misfortune
