In my opinion we have a society that is living in the future. I do not advocate living in the past; however, I think the pendulum needs to swing towards the centre. Certainly there is greed in the world. Let's start with professional athletes who earn millions annually and say we need this because our careers are so short. Turning the corner, not all stock brokers are greedy slackers; let's concentrate on wealthy CEOs who manipulate the markets for the wealthy shareholders.
Big oil and banks, among others do make sizeable profits; however, they create jobs. Lets blame our governments and Lobbyists for helping to create loopholes that allow them to avoid paying as much tax as they should.
We are bombarded with advertising (how much does this add to the final cost of the product to the consumer? Between 20 and 25 percent of TV ads are from car manufacturers). Pharmaceutical companies convince us that they have pills (EXPENSIVE PILLS) to cure all our ailments; BUT CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR BECAUSE THEY COULD RESULT IN A PLETHORA OF SIDE EFFECTS AND EVEN DEATH). Many Canadians have more money in insurance than in a savings account. We max out our credit cards and pay huge interest fees on the overdue balance.
Military budgets are huge. Some cities in the USA are entirely dependent on them. Governments don't create productive jobs. They create civil servants and wasted money.

We all need the WISDOM AND FORESIGHT to see, FAITH to believe in what we see and COURAGE TO ACT.

There is an overwhelming amount of scientific evidence that mankind has had a huge impact on the environment and we need to take this seriously. The loss of genetic diversity in the animal kingdom is a particularly sad aspect of environmental destruction by human beings and must not be dismissed in such a callous manner.
