LOSING A FAMILY MEMBER; BLOG # 2327; DEC 03, 2021

THE COMEBACK:

YOUR SUCH A SMART ASS.

SAME TO YOU. JUST DROP THE WORD SMART!

THE MESSAGE:

LOSING A CHILD

School shootings have been well documented.  Whether the shooter was a victim of loneliness, maltreatment, mental issues, poverty, lack of role models, desire for notoriety, low self-esteem or other deprivations, these events have resulted in far too many parents suffering the horrible pain of losing of a child.

TONY TODAY:

Other tragedies occur when a mother kills her children because of the terrible feeling of being abandoned or betrayed by a partner. Perhaps some of these murders are the result of the despair a mother feels when she believes there is no escape from her desperate situation.

PARENTAL MURDER

A Detroit mom, Mitchelle Blair, 36, was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole after pleading guilty to killing her 13-year-old daughter in 2012 and 9-year-old son in 2012

"As horrendous as everybody thinks I am that's fine," Blair told the court,  as she lashed out against one of the fathers of her children who filed an impact statement with the judge.

PREGNANCY LOST

Yet another tragic event is the pain experienced by expectant parents because of the death of their unborn child. One can only imagine their grief.

STEFANIE
My wife and I have experienced the pain of losing a beautiful child and human being. Stefanie’s life was cut short by many unforeseen developments. Every member of our extended family felt her loss. She was a talented bright light, a wonderful mother and a beloved daughter.

I talk to her every day. I am no longer a practicing Catholic, and my faith has been shaken; however, I often visited a church, lit a candle in her memory and said a prayer to her.

FAMILY DISPUTE
Sometimes a situation evolves when one chid, stricken with misoginy, loses the respect from other family members. The motivation may spring from greed, misunderstanding, jealousy, anger, revenge or miscommunication.

There are many news reports that detail murders, disputes, or hatred among family members. Everyone shares the common need to feel loved, cared for, valued and wanted, even the person who seems set on upsetting everyone. Reacting is the knee-jerk defense to an attack. Instead, respond calmly.  When all is said and done, and a relative still manages to inflict that verbal jab, forgive and let it go. Forgiveness has many benefits, including a sense of release, relief and freedom for the forgiver.

MILITARY DEATH

Understanding grief when a loved one dies in the military is beyond imagination. The death of a family member is a life-changing event for the entire family. Although bereavement eventually occurs in every family, the loss of a child of any age can be life changing. Surviving members of military families find themselves in a unique position from other losses in that their loved one voluntarily put themselves into harm’s way, knowing the potential for the death and injury. Serving in our country’s armed services carries with it intrinsic dangers distinct to the military that family members are aware of when their loved one enlisted. As such, they gain a different perspective in processing the loss. This is not to say it makes the loss any easier to bear, in fact the circumstances that surrounded the death of their loved one may even complicate the grieving process.
