POLICE SHOOTINGS; BLOG # 2294; FRI APR 16, 2021

THE COMEBACK:

YOU’RE FULL OF CRAP!

REALLY? PEOPLE DON’T CALL YOU ’TOILET HEAD’ FOR NOTHING!

THE MESSAGE:

Candace Owens is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island.  Her degree is a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. Candace took a job as an administrative assistant for a private equity firm. She was promoted to vice president of administration. In 2015, she quit her job and founded the website 'Degree180', which creates internet content largely targeted at millennials.

On her website, Candace  talks about her experiences and makes the following interesting point, “You keep a group captive by keeping it divided against itself. The way I see it, we are all victims."

TONY TODAY:

CANDACE CLAIMS THAT BLACK MEN GETTING SHOT BY POLICE ISN’T ABOUT RACISM. HMMM....

She sees herself  as a non “stereotypical” black girl. Her name is not hard to pronounce, and she doesn’t speak in colloquialisms. Her belief is that people today  tend to rely upon information from the various media, over their own experiences, which is a dangerously flawed manner of learning. Racism does exist; however,  it is far less rampant than ignorance, which can be cured through experience. She sees ignorance, on every side, from people who believe there actually IS a “side.”

White people feel they are being accused of racism. They dislike the behaviours of many blacks and  feel that a real problem is being overlooked, and misunderstood.
Many blacks feel that they stand out as problems because of their lack of equal resources, positions and education.

We are all the ignorant products of our media, and this only ends with forgiveness. Our programming can only be overridden by real experiences.

A White ex-cop who shot an unarmed black man in the back and killed him  gets 20 years in prison. A bystander's video recording showed Walter Scott hurrying away as patrolman Michael Slager fired at him from behind. Scott was struck five times, officials said.

AND THEN TO CONFUSE THE ISSUE WE HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

A narrative exists that black men are constantly harassed and brutalized by the police who have impunity. This reality exists even when blacks have done nothing wrong. There is an “epidemic of police shootings of unarmed black men.

In reality, this narrative is false. Data shows that although white men experience such violence less often, the disparity is consistent with the racial gap in violent crime, suggesting that the role of racial bias is small. The media’s acceptance of this false narrative poisons the relations between law enforcement and black communities throughout the country and results in violent protests that destroy property and sometimes even claim lives.

A study by the Crime Prevention Research Center’s John R. Lott Jr. and economist Carlisle E. Moody at the College of William and Mary finds that white police officers may be less likely than their black counterparts to use deadly force against black suspects.

MOODY
LOTT JR.

This study has been largely ignored by the media, but the pair’s findings align with previous studies that indicate racism does not play a significant role in the deaths of black Americans at the hands of police. Lott and Moody examined 1,333 more cases than are in the FBI data set and their findings show that white officers’ use of force is generally “race neutral.”

SOME QUESTIONS

The following report was entirely fabricated.

The World News Daily Report web site published an article reporting that police in Kentucky had shot a white coal miner after mistaking him for a black man. 37-year old Jason Morris had just finished his night shift in a mine operated by the Bell County Coal Corporation and was boarding his vehicle to head home when the deputies arrived. Seeing a dark faced individual enter a brand new Lincoln Navigator worth more than $75,000, the officers believed he was an African American man attempting to steal a vehicle.  After he ignored three shouted warnings from the deputies, Mr Morris was shot five times.

MORE EMPHASIS ON RACISM THAN ON PROVOCATION OR FACTS.

PATRICK HARMON

Police officers who shot a black man in Salt Lake City were cleared by the local district attorney. In a body cam video, Patrick Harmon is seen complying with officers. Though he is seemingly distraught, he stands near his bike and takes off his backpack as police had ordered. As Officers moved to arrest the 50-year old Harmon  it was discovered he had outstanding arrest warrants, including one for aggravated assault. Harmon broke away from the officer attempting to place handcuffs on him and began to flee. After a brief chase, Fox fired three times, hitting Harmon in the back with each shot. Smith then tasered Harmon as he lay on the ground. The incident was captured on film by the body cameras of the three officers on the scene.

MICHAEL BROWN JR

An 18-year-old black man, was fatally shot by 28-year-old white Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the city of
Ferguson, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Wilson said that an altercation ensued when Brown attacked him in his police vehicle for control of Wilson's gun.  Johnson, a friend of Brown, said that Wilson initiated a confrontation by grabbing Brown by the neck through his car window, threatening him and then shooting at him.  At this point, both Wilson and Johnson state that Brown and Johnson fled, with Wilson pursuing Brown shortly thereafter. Wilson stated that Brown stopped and charged him after a short pursuit. Johnson contradicted this account, stating that Brown turned around with his hands raised after Wilson shot at his back. According to Johnson, Wilson then shot Brown multiple times until Brown fell to the ground. In the entire altercation, Wilson fired a total of twelve bullets, including twice during the struggle in the car; the last was probably the fatal shot. Brown was struck six times, all in the front of his body.

GEORGE FLOYD
America is on the defensive worldwide over the murder of Floyd and all that the killing implies about
race, values, and leadership. Floyd was a black who died in Minneapolis after a white cop knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes. Protests have unfolded  across the USA since Floyd’s death in custody. In New Jersey, as a diverse group marched along waving signs and chanting slogans in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, it was met by several white men who had gathered near a sign that said “All Lives Matter” and in front of a pickup truck draped with an American flag and a pro-Trump sign.

DAUNTE WRIGHT

A black man in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, was shot and died following a traffic stop. Police said the shooting appears accidental. The officer drew a handgun instead of a taser. His death was ruled a homicide by the Hennepin County medical examiner.  Daunte Wright's killer is Kim Potter.

The incident happened about 10 miles from where a white cop killed another Black man, George Floyd. The American Civil Liberties Union issued a statement over the death of Daunte Wright, saying "he should be alive today.” "The circumstances surrounding Daunte Wright’s killing hammers home the heartbreaking truth that we’ve known for so long — Black people living in America are subject to having their lives violently ripped away from them and the ones they love at the hands of our government for absolutely nothing.

Riots in the area followed the shooting.
