THE MESSAGE:
I received the following via email and do not know the identity of the author. It evoked some great memories of growing up in the 1950's. I was urged to share it with others and therefore decided to do so by utilizing my weekly blog.
The message is a wonderful metaphor of a totally different world. It references the USA in its poetry; however it can easily be applied to life in Canada as well. I have taken the liberty of edits and some different pictures.
For youth was still eternal,And life was yet to be,
And Elvis was foreverIn the Land That Made Me, Me.
We'd never seen the rock band
That was Grateful to be Dead,
And Airplanes weren't named Jefferson,
And Beatles lived in gardens then,
And Monkees lived in trees,
Madonna was MaryIn the Land That Made Me, Me.
We hadn't seen enough of jets
To talk about the lag,
And microchips were what was leftAt the bottom of the bag.
So now we face a brave new world
In slightly larger jeans,
And wonder why they're usingSmaller print in magazines.
And we tell our children's childrenOf the way it used to be,
Long ago and far awayIn the Land That Made Me, Me.
THE QUESTION:
Would the USA be better off if they pillory Hillary?
