WHAT'S IN A REFUGEE? BLOG # 2040

THE MESSAGE:

How far should Canada go in accommodating refugees? What should and should not be tolerated? Turkey’s Islamist strongman Recep Tayyip Erdogan has proclaimed that pressuring Muslims to assimilate in their new Western countries is “a crime against humanity.”

TONY SAYS, "What a crock of crap!" Do they prefer the status quo in their former countries? Why do they insist that their new home conform to their previous mores or religions?

How do we vet refugees in order to weed out terrorists or other criminals? A background check is only as good as the available information about a person’s background. In refugee pipelines like Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, and Sudan, such information is virtually nonexistent.

Many in the U.S. agree with Donald Trump who is concerned not only with the vetting of terrorists  but also with an impending Islamic Supremacy that many European Nations are now experiencing.

IN CANADA:
It has been reported that Syrian refugees at a Fredericton, New Brunswick high school bullied young students, ignored teachers, and harassed a Jewish student. The school, out of necessity offers English as an additional language class with students ranging in age from 15-20. Older students apparently attend for the purpose of learning the language. The problems seem predictable,

Educators wrote this spring in a series of e-mail messages that made reference to the following issues:

  • 19 and 20-year-old men starting physical confrontations with teachers and bullying other students “particularly when it comes to girls in the class.
  • Migrants using vulgar sexual language in Arabic in front of the girls to refer to their penises.
  • An opinion survey given to Syrian migrants which found that just shy of 20% thought “marital rape” and “forced abortions” are acceptable.
  • An email between staff that revealed how a migrant student listed “RPGs” (rocket propelled grenade launchers) as one of his hobbies.
  • Migrant students expressing a demand for gender segregated prayer rooms and school buses.
  • Young migrant girls expressing fears to teachers about their own brothers and fathers.
  • Anti-Semitic bullying as migrants target Jewish students.

But David McTimoney, the superintendent of the Anglophone West School District in N,B, downplayed other e-mail messages from teachers at the high school. McTimoney said  the selected e-mails, "painted an inaccurate picture," and "were taken completely out of context and sensationalized."

A Vice principal  claims that there was an incident where 19 and 20-year-olds were making racist comments to young students and intimidating them. "We had to bring in a translator for a full day to help us smooth the waters and get back on track."

On another issue teachers have tried to figure out how to accommodate requests for Muslim prayer practices during school hours which require, among other things, that men and women be separate during prayer.

McTimoney confirmed a prayer room had been created within the school and said it was a symbol of the school's commitment "to recognize and value the diversity among those that we serve."

SERIOUSLY? How about addressing the problems first? I say have them adjust their prayer time and pray privately at home. Suspend all bullies and set an example. Maybe even deport the Syrian ones and their families. Nip that issue in the bud.

IN FRANCE:
The country is experiencing  thousands of torched automobiles, violence against police and other agents of the state. There is  pressure in Islamic enclaves to ignore the sovereignty of the Republic and conform to the rule of sharia.

IN SWEEDEN:

Much of Malmo, the third largest city, is controlled by Muslim immigrant gangs. Emergency medical personnel are attacked often enough that they will not respond to calls without police protection. The police in turn are unwilling to enter the area without back-up.

IN BRITAIN:

A soldier was killed and nearly beheaded in broad daylight by jihadists known to the intelligence services. Dozens of sharia courts now operate throughout the country. Muslim activists are demanding more accommodations.

IN THE USA:

Some claim that 'Leftist Liberals' are bent on fundamentally transforming America (Muslims in America overwhelmingly support Democrats). While the 'Conservative GOP',  fears the “Islamophobia” smear nearly as much as the “racist” smear.

THE QUESTION:

Dare you comment on Islamaphobia?

THE LEMON:

This weeks lemon is awarded to Turkey's Erdogan
for his comment on 'crime against humanity'
