A JUST SOCIETY, BLOG # 2026; APRIL 4, 2016

THE MESSAGE:

What constitutes a just society? Is it conformity? Is it obedience? Perhaps the answer is understanding and compromise. Or maybe one could say it is acceptance or tolerance. Some might say compassion is the answer; but then they really don't fully believe in the definition.

Should the government be socialist, conservative, Dictatorial, liberal or a combination of all of these? Should the government be big and intrusive or small and responsive?

Do we require both Provincial and Federal Jurisdictions that overlap in many areas?
Is the party system better than the Republic system?

What part should history play in the reality of our modern state? Is Tradition a bona fide excuse to thwart progress? Does stubbornness have a role to play in historical revisions?

I have no definitive answers; however, I do have some possible ideas or convictions.

1. A society needs rules that can be accepted by all members and enforced by a fair justice system and an educated and respected police force.
2. It should have compassion for those who are of different races or cultures.
3. People of different cultures should adopt the Canadian culture and practice their particular culture at home or church, but not in public places.
4. A society must provide schools and a system of education that provides equal opportunity for all citizens.

THE QUESTIONS:

HERE ARE FIVE QUESTIONS THAT CANADIANS NEED TO ANSWER

1. Terrorism:
Is our government doing enough to keep us safe, to combat ISIS, to prevent radicalization and to punish home grown terror?

2. Armed forces: Was the decision to withdraw our jet fighters from the fight against ISIS the right one? Do we need a stronger Navy and Air Force?Does the government do a good job looking after our veterans?

3. Energy: Pollution needs to be addressed and the environment must be safeguarded. Are 'fossil fuels'  the problem? Is the green movement the work of certain people trying to capitalize on government subsidies?  Do so called scientists depend on public outcry to keep their fantasies in gear? What are the benefits of the Canada East Pipeline?

4. The Economy: Does the national debt constitute a threat to our national security? Do governments really create jobs?

5, Education: Do we need more technical education in our Secondary and Post Secondary Institutions? Do we do enough to keep our youth in school, to teach respect for all citizens and create employment opportunities for well-paying jobs?
