SPEAKING OF TIME; BLOG NUMBER 161; FRI DEC 12, 2014

THE MESSAGE:

Time has a way of moving on and making you unaware of the passing years. It seems that only yesterday I was fit, confident, optimistic and full of energy and ideas. Not so long ago I was newly married and starting out on an exciting adventure with the girl of my dreams.

MUSIC

I LOVE MUSIC: SONGS OLD AND NEW, POP AND CLASSICAL, BLUES AND ROCK, BLUE GRASS AND COUNTRY. SONGWRITERS HAVE ADDRESSED FEELINGS AND HELP ME EXPRESS MINE.

Upon further reflection, my mind flashes back to my youth. A different zone and I wonder where all the years have gone. I know that I lived them all. Every once in a while my wife and I share memories of "THE WAY WE WERE" by Barbra Streisand

"Memories Light the corners of my mind."

We remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were far removed. On the other side of the picture we sometimes look at other couples and remark on how old they look. Invariably we end with the realization that we are most likely older than they are. "WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE?" by Peter Paul and Mary

"Long time passing"

My requirements are so much different now. Showers are still a daily routine but naps are very much a part of it. I spend much time sitting as opposed to walking.   I used to wonder why my dad was always in a hurry to get back home in case someone phoned. We nodded knowingly because he seldom answered the phone whenever we called to say hi.  We used to love to dance to rock and roll music. Back then it was even permissible wiggle along to  "MAMBO ITALIANO"!
by Dean Martin or Rosemary Clooney.
"A boy went back to Napoli"

Which of us is truly prepared for this new season of life with all of its aches and pains and loss of strength? What happened to the frequent procrastination to do all the things that I promised to do tomorrow. Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done and things I should have done. However, like Paul Anka wrote and Frankie sang, "I DID IT MY WAY".

All in all I am a very fortunate fellow. I am blessed with a wonderful woman, six children and sixteen grandchildren that keep me interested and determined to live on and enjoy life!

"MAGIC MOMENTS" by Perry Como. When  your life is filled with love and sharing. This was one of my Mom's favourites.

"Magic moments
Memories we've been sharin
Magic moments
When two hearts are carin"

"THE POWER OF LOVE" replaces the fear of growing old with a beautiful appreciation of life

Senior moments are actually very rewarding. Being in the "TWILIGHT TIME" (The Platters) can be weird but realistic.

"Heavenly shades of night are falling, it's twilight time"

YOU HAVE TO KNOW,

> You have to scroll down to the year of your birth
> You can laugh, cough, sneeze and pee at the same time
> You dream about prunes
> Your ears have more hair than your head
> Your back goes out more than you do
> You realize you're never going to be really good at golf.
> Every part of your body hurts; if it doesn't hurt; it doesn't work
> You wear black socks with sandals
> You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV 'ON' than you do in bed.
> You tend to use more "F" BOMBS" when frustrated and it happens a lot.
> Everybody whispers.
> You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet.... 2 of which you will never wear again.

THE QUESTION:

How much influence does music have on our lives?

THE QUOTE:

"When the Power of Love overcomes the Love of Power, the world will know peace." Jimi Hendrix

THE LAUREL:

To Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin for making the world a better place through their music and talent
