COWS AND CAPITALISM; BLOG #158; FRI NOV 21, 2014

THE MESSAGE:

A Political Ideology explained and illustrated

CAPITALISM, HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO WORK.

A farmer has 2 cows. He sells one and buys a bull. He now has a cow calf operation; his herd grows and so does the economy. The farmer sells his operation and retires to a satisfying lifestyle.

HOW CAPITALISM WORKS IN SOUTH AFRICA.

An American African (black) farmer keeps 2 cows on a small plot of land he leases from a greedy politician. He stores the milk in a shipping container which has been equipped with cooling units (six relatives working for 75 rand/month ($3). The coolers fan the containers while awaiting a milk pickup by the crooked politician.) The farmer boards with the politician and manages to keep 100 rand/month ($4) after paying his workers, eating and paying rent. He grows the business by forcing the cows to produce the milk of six cows. The cows eventually die of exhaustion and the farmer goes on welfare and moves into a state-sponsored shipping container in a ghetto. The cooling units become unemployed and take to producing funky works of art which they sell on the street corners.

HOW CAPITALISM WORKS IN FRANCE

A farmer has 2 cows. He sells one and buys a bull. He develops a herd and produces milk for the masses. He goes on strike because the German farmers get more money for their milk. He opposes the idea of the European Market trying to increase the share of the world's milk proceeds for all countries in Europe. He sells his cows; moves to Germany; marries a wealthy German farmer's daughter and freezes to death. (not because of a shortage of milk or money.) His art collection becomes the property of the state. His widowed wife marries another French farmer and the cycle repeats itself.

HOW CAPITALISM WORKS IN IRELAND

A farmer has 2 cows that are thriving and producing much milk. One cow came from Dublin and swore a lot; the other was bred in England and became stricken with shingles thus unable to give milk. The cow of Irish heritage soon became superstitious and refused to be milked. The farmer took his revenge by forcing the cows to eat potatoes. The Irish cow left the farm for the city. The English cow became a prop for Monty Python. The farmer switched to raising chickens.

HOW CAPITALISM WORKS IN SCOTLAND

A Sottish farmer had one cow and 3 sheep. After a bovine referendum, the Scottish cow went along with the Irish boycott and the farmer soon cut out the cow's innards for that evening's supper. (His sheep were too valuable and kept him warm.)

All the remaining cows in Scotland heard the news and spread the word.  Milk became a scarce commodity in Scotland, driving up the price.

HOW CAPITALISM WORKS IN JAPAN

There are few farmers and cows for lack of acreage. The Japanese sell cars, cameras and baseball players to the USA.

The drinking of milk is eschewed in favour of Sake. This drives the price of milk down.  Soon cheap milk is plentiful in Japan.

HOW CAPITALISM WORKS IN CANADA

A farmer has 2 cows. A 'First Nations' group in Northern Ontario, with a population of about 1800 natives, complains that the farmer is occupying their land. The farmer gives one cow to the tribe as compensation and has to sell the other to pay his taxes. The government gives millions of dollars to the reserve which is controlled by the chief, her boy friend and the 17 well-paid council members. The natives on the reserve proclaim that they are 'Idle no More'. The farmer applies for an agricultural grant and buys 2 more cows. The cycle repeats itself. The native tribe trades 24 ill-begotten cows for a  new Zamboni and the chief of the tribe goes on a hunger strike.

HOW CAPITALISM WORKS IN ITALY

A farmer has 2 cows. He uses the milk to feed his family and sells the surplus at market. One of the cows is attacked by wild boars; killed and devoured. He forms a new company with his 2 neighbours. They sell all their cows and buy shotguns and shells.

Their new company becomes Europe's largest producer/exporter of 'wild boar' leather cases,  gloves, hair brushes, salamis and prosciutto. Their families now drink only home made wine.

THE QUOTE:

"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries."
- Winston Churchill

THE LEMON:

Chief Theresa Spence, controversial head of the Attawapiskat First Nation, earned more than $82,000 tax-free in 2013 — an 18.8% increase from 2011.
