WIT; BLOG NUMBER 139; JULY 11, 2014

THE MESSAGE:

Who was it that first said "She has her wits about her."? Uncle Joe used to say, "lei ha il suo ingegno....." when referring to my mother.

One of my English teachers at De La Salle, Brother Matthew, often declared, "I am at my wit's end"; I received a knuckle on top the head for piping up. "You got that right!

CLASSICAL WIT TO MAKE YOU SMILE

“I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer”  -DOUGLAS ADAMS

“This is not a novel to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force." - DOROTHY PARKER

“The covers of this book are too far apart.” -AMBROSE BIERCE

“Tact: the ability to describe others as they see themselves.”-ABRAHAM LINCOLN.

WIT FOR TODAY'S SMILE

I started out with nothing...I still have most of it.
Some days you're the dog, some days the hydrant.
Funny, I don't remember being absent minded.
If all is not lost, where is it?
It was all so different before everything changed.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
I wish the buck stopped here. I could use a few.
The only time the world beats a path to your door is if you're in the bathroom.

THE QUESTION:
What's the difference between 'fat chance' and 'slim chance'?

THE QUOTE:
"Better a witty fool than a foolish wit." - William Shakespeare

LEMONS TO:
BARAK OBAMA, for his cutesy rhetoric, triumphant grimace, oral melody, and unfulfilled expectations.
