BLOG NUMBER 74; APRIL 5,2013; YESTERDAY'S CHILD

YESTERDAY'S CHILD-----TODAY'S SENIOR CITIZENS

Many Golden Agers wonder about children and parents of today. They ask themselves: who is it that has taken:

    ·     The melody out of music,

  • ·      The pride out of appearance,

  • ·      The courtesy out of driving,

  • ·      The romance out of love,

  • ·      The commitment out of marriage,

  • ·      The responsibility out of parenthood,

  • ·      The togetherness out of family,

  • ·      The learning out of education,

  • ·      The civility out of behaviour,

  • ·      The refinement out of language,

  • ·      The dedication out of employment,

  • ·      The prudence out of spending,

  • ·      The ambition out of achievement

Surely it wasn’t our doing! After all:
·      I'm the life of the party…Even if it lasts until 8 p.m.
·      I'm very good at opening childproof caps.... With a hammer.
·      I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up
·      I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a thing you're saying.
·      I'm sure everything I can't find is in a secure place, somewhere.
·      I'm beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.

Yes, I'm a SENIOR CITIZEN and I think I am having the time of my life

WINTER IS WONDERFUL

Time has a way of passing quickly and, if you're not careful, of occluding the passing years. It seems that, not so long ago, I was a student heading for law school. It is so recent and vivid. I remember falling in love; changing direction to become a teacher/coach; marrying and starting a new life and family with my partner. Although I am not pre-occupied with the passage of time, I cannot help but wonder where the years went. I can recall events, accomplishments and disappointments at various stages of my life. I have glimpses of how it was back then. Many of my hopes and dreams were formed and pursued with few thoughts of failure.

I find myself in the winter of my years. Not because of cold or dreary discomfort. My wife and I reflect on good times over coffee each morning. We are surrounded by family and friends. We have been blessed with six children and sixteen grandchildren. We endured the pain of losing a child. Sometimes when we see older folks walking we nudge each other and say "boy are they ever old" and then realize that they are probably younger than we are.  I see old friends and remember when they were young and full of life. Reality tells me that we are older but life is somehow richer.

MY WAY

I do have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done...things I should have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done. It's all in a lifetime.

"Life" is a gift to us. The way we live it involves many choices. Our formative years were filled with fun and friends. Obeying the rules, examples and boundaries set by our parents gave us strength, self confidence and direction. These were our gifts. Let us pass them on to those who succeed and remember us.

LIVE LIFE WELL! ENJOY THE MOMENT! HAVE FUN! DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY !  VOTE CONSERVATIVE!

CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:

TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN, YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE FROM NOW ON; SO, ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.

Your kids finally pay dividends....the grandchildren are perfect!
Going out is good.. coming home is better!
You forget names but they always come back to you... IN YOUR SLEEP
You recognize you were never going to be really good at any sport. HOCKEY, FOOTBALL, GOLF, BASEBALL, especially GOLF.
You miss the days of a simple "ON" and "OFF" switch.
Most parts of your body hurt; what doesn't hurt doesn't work.
Everybody whispers. ESPECIALLY FEMALES
You have fond memories of Old Songs, Old movies, OLD Times and OLD FRIENDS!!
