THE COMEBACK:
“HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT FOR SHUTTING UP?”
"YOU SOUND LIKE MY MOTHER!"
THE MESSAGE:
Jeffrey Edward Epstein was an American financier and convicted sex offender. During his financial career, he became a multimillionaire.
On August 10, 2019 Screams could be heard coming from Jeffrey Epstein’s jail cell the morning he was found dead. Epstein hanged himself with a bed sheet at the Metropolitan Correctional Centre in Lower Manhattan. His brother was called in and identified his body. Epstein, a 66-year-old former hedge-fund manager, was being held on federal sex-trafficking charges after his arrest last month.
The criminal case against the late Jeffrey Epstein was officially dismissed Thursday, almost three weeks after the accused sex trafficker died in his jail cell. The Judge signed what's known as a "nolle prosequi," or a notice that the court will no longer pursue the charges. The dismissal was expected, as prosecutors had filed a motion to dismiss the federal sex trafficking charges after the multimillionaire’s suicide.
THE BLURB:
On July 9, 2019 Epstein accusers Courtney Wild and Michelle Licata recount their experiences after witnessing Epstein’s criminal arraignment in federal court in downtown Manhattan. Both women, who met for the first time in court that day, declared they were sexually-abused as teenagers by the financier. They claimed that their pain is still fresh and their memories still vivid, even after all those years. But "we get to look him in the face today and see him in handcuffs," Wild said. "We get to see him in jail. Finally, that day has come. So it was just nice to be able to share it with somebody."
Epstein at one time socialized with former President Bill Clinton.

In 2007–2008, U.S. Attorney, Alexander Acosta, approved a plea deal that required Jeffrey Epstein to plead guilty to a state charge of solicitation for the purposes of prostitution involving a 14-year-old girl. The deal required that Epstein register as a sex offender and pay restitution to victims as part of a federal non-prosecution agreement. The prosecutors had identified 36 victims of Epstein, most of them having no prior knowledge of the agreement and no opportunity to give input. After Epstein's arrest in July 2019 on sex trafficking charges, Acosta faced renewed and harsher criticism for his role in the 2008 non-prosecution agreement. The deal is now under review by the Justice Department. The agreement also gave Epstein and any of his alleged co-conspirators immunity from further federal prosecution in the Southern District of Florida.
Acosta’s DOJ group failed to consult with any of Epstein’s alleged victims before arriving at the agreement.
In the deal, Epstein was given 18 months in prison. They granted immunity to four women associates of Epstein and any other “potential co-conspirators”. The list was identified in the agreement as “including but not limited to Adriana Ross, Sarah Kellen, Lesley Groff or Nadia Marcinkova.”

On July 15, 2019: In an extraordinary detention hearing, Epstein came face-to-face with two of his accusers. Annie Farmer says that she was 16 when Epstein had her sent to New Mexico where he was “inappropriate” with her. Courtney Wild tells the judge that she was 14 when Epstein sexually abused her in Palm Beach, Florida. Both women spoke in support of keeping Epstein locked up without bail. Epstein appears to watch them address the judge but his face shows no emotion.
July 18, 2019: A federal judge denied bail for Epstein. Judge Richard Berman made the decision over the objections of defense attorneys who had argued that the wealthy financier was a “disciplined” defendant willing to pay a bond of $100 million or more. Federal prosecutors objected, saying the court “cannot rely on the self-discipline of a man with an appetite for children.
On July 18, 2019 Steve Scully, a former IT contractor for Jeffrey Epstein, said that he ended their business relationship over personal concerns about so many unsupervised young women on Epstein’s island. “There were photos of topless women everywhere," said Scully.
Former assistant U.S. Attorney, Marie Villafaña, plans to leave her position with the Department of Justice after 18 years. She is eager for the public to review the internal investigation’s findings and to fully understand her role and the roles of her superiors in the Epstein investigation.
Villafaña's superior during the Epstein investigation was Alexander Acosta. He recently resigned as President Donald Trump’s Labor Secretary after facing questions about his role in the much-criticized plea deal. Earlier this year, a federal judge in Florida ruled that Acosta's office had violated the rights of Epstein's alleged victims for failing to confer with them in advance of the signing of the non-prosecution agreement with Epstein..
"Jeffrey Epstein robbed myself and all other victims of our day in court to confront him one by one, and for that he is a coward," said accuser Courtney Wild, who thanked authorities for giving them the opportunity to have a moment in court. "I feel very angry and sad that justice has never been served in this case.”
