THE MESSAGE:

Back in the day, Mom and Dad would have Italian couples visit our home every Sunday. They enjoyed a BBQ and especially a competitive Euchre card came. Thinking back, I cannot remember a time when accusations of cheating did not arise between my parents or one of the visitors.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF CHEATING.
Why do men cheat on their loved ones? Was the 'forbidden apple’ really a tale about infidelity because another woman was created to help with the chores in the Garden of Eden?

As a rule, men don’t cheat because they are unhappy. Men cheat because they think they can get away with it and because they’re willing to let themselves get away with it.

Unfortunately for us all, people become complacent and forget what’s important to them. Their priorities get out of sync or sometimes it can be a bad stretch in the relationship that has a man contemplating, “can I do better?” Monotony and too much regularity gets the best of some individuals as they begin to question their significant other.

When men cheat in any situation they diminish themselves by threatening their character, their own self-esteem and their relationships with others. They undermine the trust they have in their ability to succeed and in their ability to be true.

THE MAN?

When a man’s mind starts getting bored, he does not always analyze the situation in depth. To him, a wife is like a home cooked meal: good for him, warm, nourishing, nutritious, and consistent. But sometimes… he might just want to taste some ‘Popeyes Chicken’.

Faithful men that never cheat will still have a tendency to look at other women in a sexual way and their eyes will always wander. No big deal; however, if a man gets bored then he’s going to interest himself with selfish distractions and bad choices. Are men who cheat incapable of dealing with temptation, pain or discomfort?

Some men are very superficial. The shallow man probably likes what he sees in a woman's beauty and it was most likely these feelings that led him astray. Slowly but surely his love handles became more prominent. He surely notices when the new girl at his work place decides to start flicking her hair in his face as she asks for more paper. Are some men just entirely beyond repair because they lack the necessary tools to overcome the fear of inadequacy.

There are some real life, hopeless men out there; some guys just have cheating in their blood. A woman can be absolutely perfect and do everything in her power to keep a happy relationship; however, some men are just predisposed to want more. A true love might even give such a man a second chance through communication and forgiveness.

Sandra Bullock and Jesse James' marriage imploded in March 2010 when it was revealed that the motorcycle mogul had cheated on the actress with several other women. "I never shied away from anything I did. I took full responsibility. I cheated on my wife. Guess what? So do millions of other men," James told Men's Journal in May 2011. "To be honest, it was unfair for me to even be in a relationship."

Some men cannot survive without cheating, it is in their nature. This seems a very poor excuse! Remember Tammy Wynette singing “Stand by Your Man”. "If you love him you’ll forgive him; after all, he’s just a man."

Are men afraid of monogamy? She gave her heart to a man who loved her, who wanted to be with her but who ultimately was afraid of all she offered. Does this make any sense?

I must give praise to my late, beautiful and loyal wife of 55 years, Ann Marie!
