TORONTO TOO MUCH;* BLOG # 2191; JUNE 07, 2019

THE MESSAGE:

Far too often the TEAM,  Joe Cressy, Mike Layton,   Kristyn Wong-Tam and the left leaning council (TEAM TORONTO), deliver their one-sided  messages. For a city that is viewed by many as world class, it certainly is not matched by its so-called leaders.

  • Toronto has its share of big buildings but far too much of a share of big egos.
  • Toronto has  a few one way streets but far too many one way minds.
  • Toronto has its share of good team performances, Raptors, Leafs and Jays (not so much) but far too much of a share of team toronto.
  • Toronto has its share of mouths to feed but far too many big mouths.
  • Toronto his its share of subway tunnels but far too much tunnel vision.
  • Toronto has its share of nice homes but more than its share of unaffordable homes.
  • Toronto has its share of heavy traffic but more than its share of drug, gang and gun traffic.
  • Toronto has its share of brain power but far too much brain washing.
  • Toronto has its share of cultural diversity but far too much cultural hatred.

THE BLURB:

The chairman of Toronto’s board of health and city councillor, Joe Cressy says the province has notified health units across Ontario that funding will be cut immediately as the government makes changes to a cost-sharing arrangement with municipalities. Councillor Cressy claims the cuts will mean Toronto Public Health will lose $1 billion in funding over the next decade and all of Ontario’s health units will be impacted by the move.

Sue Ann Levy of the Toronto Sun, interviewed Former Councillor Christin Greb who sat on the board of health and its budget committee until the spring of 2017.

Greb describes Toronto Public Health (TPH) as a “left-wing cash cow” where pet projects are rampant and accountability is non-existent. She further expresses anger with the hyperbole and fear mongering coming from Mayor John Tory, Councillor Joe Cressy and others on his team, about the impact of changes to provincial cost-sharing arrangements.

Cristin goes on to say that while she believes student nutrition programs are a necessity, the way they operate is “completely ridiculous.”The city has increased the budget every year but doesn’t actually run the programs, or have “any oversight” over them, she says. “There’s no one who holds the city to account for the amount of money that is wasted.”

THE CARTOON:

As is often the case with politicians, Cressy has stirred the pot with his hasty and exaggerated announcement. Rather than work towards a more acceptable model, he chooses to blame his rivals in an effort to remain popular and in power.

THE QUESTION:

How does one know which politician to believe and trust?

THE LEMON:

Awarded to Donald Trump for his lack of  statesmanship.
