LEGGO MY EGO; BLOG # 2158; FRI OCT 12,2018

THE MESSAGE:

It doesn't take a lot of imagination to question the philosophy that 'All men are created equal'. Some political parties and their diehards like to think that it is a given. In Democratic Societies a person is vilified for believing otherwise. Certainly the philosophy is applicable when examining the differences and uniqueness of cultures, race, religion, sex and philosophy to name some realities that deserve consideration. However, far too many are unwilling to get along. Some believe that the words that Thomas Jefferson used in the Declaration of Independence, have been hijacked. They say that the phrase was meant to justify independence from England, not to free slaves or give women the right to vote or to seek equal pay etc.

So where does Socialism enter the equation? Is economic equality  a reasonable expectation? It is indeed a hard hearted person who can stand by while many in the world suffer from hunger, sickness and discomfort. With the world population ever increasing, does it make sense to even consider the concept.

THE BLURB:

Being consumed by one's ego is usually accompanied by self-doubt and a general mistrust or dislike of humankind. Egoism is the core of ignorance. It is the root cause of most of our delusions and suffering.

The dilemma here is that many young individuals require a positive self-image in order to combat the forces of negativity that are so prevalent in their lives. This self-image is vital for the young to adapt and survive. It is not to be confused with the term egoism.

The moment a person loves himself to the exclusion of others is the moment when that person becomes a victim of his ego. People with bloated egos cannot get their priorities right. They would often choose to work for appearance sake rather than true substance. Those dedicated to their own ego, will lose the opportunity to develop their soul. The consequences will be total misdirection and misery when suffering and ignorance inevitably overtakes them.

When an enduring love finds you and shines its light on you, there is no greater feeling. When sadness enters your life, the love is there to guide and comfort you. With true love there is no jealousy or false pride. Those incapable of giving or receiving love have little or no hope for happiness. The ego has won making the soul a loser.

THE EGO AND GIVING

Some people give grudgingly; like an upset spouse who is tired of the same old argument. Some people give graciously with patience and love; like a mother tending to a child. Some people give nothing; like a head of state mired in the quest for power and self-admiration. The ego blocks his path.

To give grudgingly hardens the soul. To give graciously enriches the soul. To give nothing dooms the soul to darkness, loneliness and corruption.

Darkness evokes fear and mystery. It brings to mind the unknown. The absence of colour has long served as a warning of some impending storm or danger or disaster. Black hearts, dark secrets and shady histories are often referenced in novels and poems. Black cats are to be avoided. Black swans are sudden and unavoidable. Black dress is a symbol of loss. LET THERE BE LIGHT!

THE QUESTION:

WHO do you think you are?

THE LEMON:
Awarded to Lebron James  of the NBA who thinks he doesn't have a huge ego!

THE QUOTE:

“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”

-John Wooden
