RANT ON ANTHONY!

Life in Ontario is great but it could be even better. Ontarians pay Federal & Provincial Income Taxes, Property Taxes, Land Transfer Taxes, Development Taxes, Corporate Taxes, Payroll Taxes, and Sales Taxes. They live under the assumption that there are to be no taxes without representation. This is the Democratic mantra. But do we truly live in a Democratic State when our elected representatives do not follow the wishes of their own constituents? Did your MLA consult with your riding when the Provincial Liberals introduced THE HST into law?

How did the HST come about in Ontario? It is simply and blatantly wrong. It taxes all people the same amount regardless of their economic status.

Corporation taxes on small business should be scrapped as long as the business creates new jobs over a three-year period.

Payroll taxes should not go towards paying for Employment Insurance benefits for those individuals who are not actively searching for a job.

Property Taxes support local education, which is a good thing; however, Ontario has two publicly funded school boards. Surely this duplication is a waste of resources.

Land and Development Taxes drive up the cost of planning for new homes; which results in higher housing costs for consumers.

Our income taxes support 2 levels of government with huge bureaucracies and a tremendous waste of resources. The number of Ministries is staggering, as is the amount of transfer payments to Quebec and First Nations people.

In the new Budget of 2012 McGuinty, with the collaboration of Horvath, proposes a 2 % surtax on income earned above $500,000. Sounds good; the wealthy pay a little more; but where will the extra money go? It will go towards the elimination of the Provincial deficit (More bureaucratic waste & excess government spending).

While I don’t particularly admire the “Tea Party” in the U.S.A; perhaps it’s time to scrap the Monarchy in favor of the "Republic of Canada;

SOLUTIONS?
  • revise our political structure;
  • consolidate the Government;
  • vote for a Prime Minister; elect a Senate;
  • bring everybody into the fold;
  • follow the model of Taiwan when it comes to Medicare;
  • eliminate Welfare and E.I. for people who do not make an honest effort to find work;
  • provide a guaranteed income level for families that have a working head;
  • get rid of unions, street walkers and advocacy groups in favor of petitions and letters to representatives;
  • revise the immigration laws to accept and encourage skilled & self-sufficient immigrant workers;
  • end government handouts to start up businesses;
  • institute a fair system of “user pay” for public infrastructure;
  • eliminate wasteful bureaucracies and entitlement programs.
